Data You Give Us Directly
Search Queries
When a visitor types a name or a date of birth into a search box on this site, that entry passes straight to the outside provider that runs the search. The provider processes the query and returns the results. We do not log or store those search terms on our side.
Messages and Contact Submissions
If someone writes to us, we keep the message so that we can answer it. Messages stay inside our own group. We do not pass them to anyone outside the organization unless a legal obligation requires it.
Data We Gather Automatically
Each time a page here loads, our servers record a small set of technical details about the visit:
- The browser in use and its version
- The IP address assigned to the device
- The device type and operating system
- Which pages were viewed and how long each one stayed open
- The referring site, when one exists
- A timestamp for every page view
Cookies and Analytics
This site uses cookies, which are small files stored on a device that show how visitors move through the pages and where they tend to leave. Analytics services help us group that traffic into usable figures. Browser settings can block cookies at any time, though parts of the site may behave differently when they are blocked.
What We Do With This Data
The technical details described above are put to a short list of operating purposes. None of them involve building a profile of a person named in a warrant, and none of them involve selling visitor details to a data broker. The aim is a site that loads, that sends a search to the right partner, and that keeps working on the pages readers actually use.
- Keep the site online and loading quickly
- Route a search request to the right partner service
- Identify pages that help readers and pages that need work
- Find and repair technical problems
- Serve advertising that may relate to a visitor's interests
No Warrant Data on File
This site does not host, compile, maintain, or sell any database of warrants or personal warrant records. We publish general guidance about where Marshall County warrant records sit and how to reach them through the district court, the Court Administrator's office, and the county sheriff's office. Minnesota also keeps some records restricted, including juvenile cases and sealed material, and none of that material appears here.
We are not a consumer reporting agency under the Fair Credit Reporting Act, and nothing we collect about visitors is assembled into a consumer report or into a file about any third party.
Third-Party Search Partners
The search boxes on this site are operated by outside companies. Whatever a visitor enters into one of those tools is handled under that partner's privacy policy rather than this one. Those partners decide their own retention and sharing practices, and we have no control over them. Reading the partner's policy before submitting a search is the better habit.
Links to Other Websites
Pages here link out to court pages, the sheriff's office, state agencies, legal aid groups, and outside search tools. Following one of those links leaves this site, and the destination's privacy policy takes over from that point. Read it before sharing personal details.
Some advertising partners track activity across sites in order to target ads. That tracking runs on their systems, not ours.
Who Might See Your Data
We do not sell personal data. A limited set of recipients may still see some information:
- Analytics providers that measure traffic and performance
- Search partners that process queries run from this site
- Advertising networks that place ads on these pages
- A court, law enforcement office, or government body when a valid legal order requires disclosure
How We Protect Your Data
We apply standard security practices to the data we hold. No system connected to the internet is flawless, however. We take reasonable steps to protect information and cannot promise that a breach will never occur.
Users Under 18
This site is written for adults. We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 18. Anyone who believes a minor has sent us data can contact us, and we will remove it.
Your Data Rights
Minnesota's data practices law, Minn. Stat. 13.03, governs records held by state and local government offices, including the court and sheriff records discussed on this site. This website is not a government office, so that statute does not control our visitor data, but we extend the same requests to visitors here:
- Request a copy of what we hold about you
- Ask us to correct information that is wrong
- Ask us to delete your data
- Opt out of certain kinds of processing
Requests about a court or sheriff record have to go to that office, and the office can explain the statutory basis for anything it withholds.
Updates to This Policy
This policy may change as the site changes. When it does, the revised version appears on this page with a new effective date. Anyone who wants to track how visitor information is handled can check back here.
